Canary Island Date Palm - Phoenix canariensis
This is the palm that rules every Mediterranean promenade and Canary Islands seafront you've ever strolled along, and up close it only gets better. A stout trunk rising into a crown of long, dark green fronds that catch the light beautifully. Instant holiday, all year round.
Native to the Canary Islands, Phoenix canariensis is slow-growing but genuinely impressive, especially in a large container on a sunny patio or terrace. It's hardy to around -6°C in a sheltered spot, so it needs a little consideration through UK winters.
This plant is also known as the Canary Date Palm.
Grow in full sun in well-drained compost. Water well through spring and summer, feeding with a balanced fertiliser monthly at half strength. In winter, water sparingly. Only prune fronds that have dropped below horizontal, as removing them earlier can stress the plant. Note: the leaf bases have sharp spines, so handle with care.

If you'd like to return a living item, let the team know within 30 days by emailing info@leafenvy.co.uk or live chat if online. Please attach a photo of the faulty or damaged plant. Other items can be returned for a refund within 30 days as long as they're unused and in re-saleable condition. Please note that return costs are the responsibility of the customer.
