Native to Japan, southern Korea and Taiwan, Fatsia Japonica is a species of flowering plant in the Araliaceae family. It's an evergreen shrub and grows white flowers in autumn, followed by small black fruit in spring. The paper plant has eight leaf lobes, which is where it gets it's name 'fatsia' from, the Japanese word meaning 'eight'.
Despite occasionally being called the 'Castor Oil Plant', the Fatsia Japonica has no relation to the vegetable oil whatsoever. Confusing? We agree!
You'd be forgiven for thinking this tropical-looking plant is high maintenance, but in reality, the paper plant is as easy-going as they come. Place wherever you like as it will handle most conditions, but to see it thrive, show it the best of both worlds, with an equal mix of sun and shade - just avoid direct sunlight.
Decorative pot not included.
