Japanese Maple 'Ryusen' - Acer palmatum 'Ryusen'
'Ryusen' does something genuinely unusual among weeping Japanese maples. Most cascade types have finely cut, lacy foliage, but 'Ryusen' has full, palmate leaves more commonly seen on upright varieties, carried on stiffly weeping branches that fall almost vertically downwards. The result is a tree with real presence and an elegantly unusual silhouette: bright green through spring and summer, turning brilliant gold, orange, and red in autumn.
Described by horticulturalists as reaching around 2m tall and 1m across, 'Ryusen' suits smaller gardens, containers, and sheltered urban spots particularly well. The central leader can be trained to adjust height, giving some control over how the final shape develops.
Grow in a sheltered position away from cold winds and late frosts. Partial shade or dappled sun is ideal. Use ericaceous or humus-rich, well-drained compost, and mulch around the base in autumn to protect the shallow roots. Water regularly in summer as rainwater is preferable to tap water. Prune only when fully dormant.

Other items can be returned for a refund within 30 days as long as they're unused and in re-saleable condition. Please note that return costs are the responsibility of the customer.
