Calathea Jungle Velvet

Calathea Jungle Velvet Care Guide

Calathea Jungle Velvet prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but avoid direct sunlight, which can damage its delicate leaves.

Water Calathea Jungle Velvet when the top inch of the soil feels slightly dry. Use room temperature water, and ensure that the soil is well-draining to prevent waterlogging.

Maintain high humidity levels of around 50-60%. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves daily, using a humidifier, or placing the plant on a tray with water and pebbles.

Keep Calathea Jungle Velvet in a warm environment with temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Protect it from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Fertilize Calathea Jungle Velvet with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid fertilizing in winter.

Calathea Jungle Velvet is non-toxic to pets and humans, making it a safe choice for households with pets and children.

Additional Care Information

Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix to ensure proper drainage and moisture retention. Rotate the plant occasionally to promote even growth and prevent it from leaning towards the light source.

Leaf Curling: Curling leaves can indicate low humidity or underwatering. Increase humidity levels and adjust your watering routine. Leaf Browning or Yellowing: This can be caused by overwatering, underwatering, or exposure to cold drafts. Check the soil moisture and adjust your care routine accordingly. Brown Leaf Tips: Brown tips can be a sign of dry air, excess fertilizer, or salt buildup in the soil. Increase humidity, flush the soil with water to remove excess salts, and avoid overfertilizing.
