How to repot your plant

Is your plant no longer a baby? Have they outgrown their nursery pot and need to be repotted? We’ve made it our mission to make plant parenthood as simple as possible, so here’s 5 easy steps to help you repot your plant...

#1

Reduce the watering

Plants don't require as much water in the colder months, so skip a watering or two to cut the frequency back by about 50%. Follow the standard watering advice and only water if the soil is dry an inch or two below the surface.

Find the plant that you would like to repot. You'll need a nursery pot that is 3-5cm larger than the one your plant is currently in and some suitable potting mix. We've recently launched our 100% vegan and peat free Leaf Envy potting mix!

2) Fill up your nursery pot

Start by filling up your new nursery pot around a quarter full with potting mix and press it down so that it is compact. This will help to remove any small air pockets in the soil.

Life the plant you would like to repot out of its current nursery pot and skim off the top soil. Prune and massage the root ball to loosen up the roots and dispose of any excess soil.

Place the plant in its new pot and fill it up with potting mix. Make sure that you pack down the soil as you go. Again, this will help to remove air pockets in the soil. Fill the nursery pot with soil right up to the top.
