Medinilla Magnifica
(Rose Grape, Pink Lantern, Philippine Orchid)
Light:
Medinilla Magnificas thrive in bright, indirect sunlight. Prolonged exposure to bright direct sunlight will scorch its leaves and flowers.
Water:
Medinillas enjoy weekly waterings, keeping their soil moist during the growing season. In winter, we recommend watering less frequently, when the entirety of the soil is beginning to dry out. This prevents overwatering and root rot.
Humidity:
Your Medinilla Magnifica will also appreciate being placed in a humid environment, which you can create by misting it frequently, placing it close to other plants or on a pebble tray partly filled with water.
Temperature:
They enjoy temperatures ranging from 18-25ºC. Avoid abrupt temperature changes and cold drafts.
Fertiliser:
Feed with general houseplant fertiliser every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (spring to summer).
Toxicity:
Medinilla Magnificas are non-toxic and suitable for homes with small children and pets.
Additional Care Information:
When blooms wilt, prune your plant back to encourage new growth.
Troubleshooting:
  • Browning fronds: suggest your Medinilla Magnifica has been exposed to too dry air or too much direct sunlight.
  • Blooms will die naturally, prune them to maintain a healthy plant.
